Welcome!

We started this blog because we're food elitists. Well, not really -- we still like the good sales, the cheap eats (and drinks), and junk food. But, we have found ourselves increasingly aware of the effect our food choices have on our health, the local economy, and the environment. This summer, we've dedicated ourselves (and our budgets) to buying local, supporting our local farmer's market(s) as much as possible, and all that implies -- such as eating seasonal, paying extra for eggs, and sharing said eats with friends.

This blog is meant to post our experiments, successes, failures and parties with the food we make (Helen likes to take a lot of pictures of food). It will also occasionally delve into food and agriculture policy (Mark likes to get wonky)... but mostly will be a diary of our exploits as foodies in Ann Arbor (which yes, does make us food elitists by default). Who knows who'll read this, but we hope you get some good ideas about food in your head -- and share your thoughts, too.
